Mp4 preset for Final Cut Pro and Apple Compressor
One thing Apple might have simplified a little too much when it comes to Final Cut is the export settings. There’s a couple of different settings to choose from and while it has all the necessary ProRes presets there’s only one option for H.264. It works fine, but the final file will be a h.264 .mov file.
Where’s mp4?
What if you need to deliver an mp4? Surprisingly that’s not an option in Final Cut so you’ll need to send your export to Compressor to finish the job. Here’s a quick tutorial on how you can created an mp4 preset in Compressor to exports videos as H.264 mp4. You can also import this preset into Final Cut, so with future exports you can export them directly from Final Cut without sending your export to Compressor.
