Grocery list on your wrist – how to use your Apple Watch as a shopping checklist
Everyone knows the key to a successful shopping trip, whether that’s simply grocery shopping or any other type of shopping, is a good shopping list. I used to make shopping lists in the Notes app on my iPhone. Some people prefer the old-school physical piece of paper. And some people live on the edge and don’t use shopping lists at all. But the best way to complete your shopping is to create a shopping list for your Apple Watch, which you can then check hands free at the store.
Creating a shopping list for Apple Watch
Since the Apple Watch doesn’t have a Notes app, this works through the Reminders app. You can create the shopping list on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or even directly on your Apple Watch.
I’m using my iPhone in this example because for most people it’s the easiest way to create one.
- Open up the Reminders app
- Reminders usually opens with a list of reminders, if so, tap the top left corner to view your Lists
- You might have a “Groceries” list already in the app, if not, create a new list and give it a name
- Change list type from “Standard” to “Groceries”
- Hit Done
Now with your Groceries list selected, add a “New Item”, which will be your shopping list. As you add items to your list, your phone will automatically categorize them based on different deparments in the grocery store.
Once finished, click “Done”. Open the Reminders app on your Apple Watch, scroll down to “Groceries”, and you’ll find your shopping list there. Now you can use your Apple Watch to cross off items, or even add more items to your list if you forgot something.
